Chabad-Lubavitch of the Virgin Islands is dedicated to serving all Jews throughout the territory with Ahavat Yisroel – an unconditional love and concern for every Jew, regardless of background and affiliation.
Its multiple programs provide the education to promote Jewish knowledge and awareness and the means to practice and experience our Jewish heritage.
It encourages positive action on the part of every Islander and facilitates these efforts to increase in goodness and kindness. It strives to seek out every Jewish visitor, affording them a moment of Jewish connection and a positive Jewish experience.
Meet The Staff
Rabbi Asher Federman grew up in Los Angeles, California and spent his teenage years studying at Yeshivas Lubavitch in Oak Park, Michigan. At eighteen he began to study at the Rabbinical College of America in Morristown, New Jersey and received his bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies.
In 2001, Asher moved to Kfar Chabad, Israel to study in the renowned Tomchei Tmimim Yeshiva where he founded Israel’s now annual national Shluchim Youth Convention. Upon returning to the United States, he further pursued his studies at the Michigan Jewish Institute, while teaching Talmud and Chassidic Philosophy at a high school level and serving as mentor to the students.
During his vacations Asher served as learning director and head counselor in a summer camp program in Tzfat, Israel.
Henya Federman grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where her parents direct the Statewide Chabad-Lubavitch Activities. After graduating from Beis Chaya Mushka High School of Oak Park, Michigan, she continued her studies at the Bais Chana Teachers Seminary in Tzfat, Israel and majored in both early childhood and elementary school education.
During the summer months, Henya was Head Counselor of Camp Gan Israel day camp in Milwaukee, and then she spent several years as a youth director in the community.
After their marriage, Henya and Asher moved to New York, where Asher taught at Ohel Chabad and Henya served as an early childhood teacher at Gan Chabad Preschool in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Asher & Henya co-directed the annual 600 participant International Shluchim Youth Convention and a winter camp in Arizona for Jewish children from across the globe.
The Federman's are blessed with 12 beautiful children, KA"H. Moussia, Mendel, Yitzchok Leib, Levi, Shneur, Chana, Feigel, Zelda Rochel, Yudel, Meir, Nechama, shaina.
Rabbi Asher & Henya Federman moved to the Virgin Islands in 2005. Their goal is to reach out to every Jew by providing a wide variety of educational, religious, and social services. Their emphasis is on sharing the treasures of our tradition and affording every Jew the opportunity to experience his or her wonderful Jewish heritage.
